The plight of the Sumilao farmers who walked from Sumilao, Bukidnon to Manila with their slippers on a sling. This is a march for justice so the government will help them get their ancestral land back. It took them 60 days to reach Manila. Yesterday morning they were flown back to Bukidnon with high hopes despite vague results.
We spotted their lantern made out of slippers the other day while driving along the Elliptical Road. We made a very quick stop and took snaps of their camp with my camera phone. If you will notice, there’s a question mark in the star. We can only hope that their’s will be a Merry Christmas. For more updates and info about their plight you can visit schumey’s blog.

Thanks for posting this. This is a perfect picture to symbolize their march of 1,700kms. These are the slippers the farmers used up during the march. Thank you for sharing these pictures with us.
There still many out there who share the plight of these farmers, I just hope that they too will be warmly supported by us who have more in life.
Thanks again.
